Adobe Lightroom 2.2 update

Posted by tekgik under kaBlog, News, Tips & Tricks

screencap_20081217_1Double good news! Adobe has released an update of their famous imaging software, the version 2.2 of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Double good news because it now supports my LX3′s  and 5D Mark II’s RAW files. See excerpt from Adobe site below.

From Adobe site

**With the release of Lightroom 2.2, there is an important exception in our DNG file handling for the Panasonic DMC LX3, Panasonic DMC FX150, Panasonic DMC FZ28, Panasonic DMC-G1 and Leica D-LUX 4. In this release the native, proprietary files from these cameras can only be converted to linear DNG files. A linear DNG file has gone through a demosaic process that converts a single mosaic layer of red, green and blue channel information into three distinct layers , one for each channel. The resulting linear DNG file is approximately three times the size of a mosaic DNG file or the original proprietary file format.

Steps in selective color in photoshop

1. Copy layer (ctrl+j)
2. Go to top layer
3. Open hue & saturation (ctrl+u) and put the saturation to 0 (to the left)
4. Select background layer
5. Pick eraser tool (ctrl+e)
6. Pick brush (b)
7. Choose rounded brush adjust by right cliking or ([ or ])
8. Adjust hardness to suit usage

9. Erase the area of the tshirt
10. Flatten then save
11. Voila you now have a selective color photo

Easiest but tricky method is Selective Color

Singapore shopping

Posted by tekgik under kaBlog, Tech, Tips & Tricks

I have no big targets for shopping in Singapore. (Wala na pera) hahaha..

Im just eyeing for a sandisk firewire reader, filter & belt case from Lowepro. Successfully I brought home what im looking for.

Lowepro utility case

It can fit an external flash on the 2nd front zipper. And two small to medium sized lens at the last zipper. It can be attached with any belt because it has double velcro attachments for safety. You can also use it as a shoulder bag because it came with a strap that you can hook on the slip lock. I love th design very simple yet rugged.

 SanDisk Extreme FireWire Reader

I was looking for this in Manila for quite sometime now. I needed a faster read/write reader since sometimes I fill up all my cards which now is 14GB in total. I already have the sandisk 12in1 USB 2.0 reader but I was intrigued if this firewire version can give me better speed. By specs USB 2.0 is faster than firewire 400. But now that I have both it appears that firewire is faster than USB 2.0 I guess because of firewire’s (less) lossless nature. Very true with HDD external enclosure.

Cokin NDG (ND8) Filter

I already have the NDG ND4 graduated filter which i oftenly used in my “unreal” shots. Seomtimes i needed more stops so I bought the +3 stops NDG.

What more? I really wanted to buy the Canon G9 pero buti nalang hindi :D
